1 uurs race op Cycle Vision 2017 / one hour race at Cycle Vision 2017

english Satuday morning, 07:45.
Traveling from Rotterdam to Amsterdam with Hans F. to Cycle Vision 2017.

The closer we get to Amsterdam, the darker it gets. And at the start of the one hour race, it's pouring with rain.

But the rain doesn't seem to matter to the riders. They are each separately started, their faces distorted to get their vehicles going.
And they need to get them going, because the start is right in front of a snappy hill !

Armed with our cameras we stand next to the circuit.
I've got it all figured out, I'm going to stand at the bottom of the hill, camera on the ground, so it will looklike the riders are popping up at the horizon and come speeding down the hill !
I even took the underwater camera housing with me.
Unfortunately, I forgot to check the setting of my camera.
And it was still on time-lapse ...

Ideal to film a one and a half hour commuter ride through the polders and reduce it to a one minute film, but absolutely worthless in case of filming the riders whizzing by.
So if anybody is interested of of some pictures of wet tarmac ...

Fortunately Hans -TheMoviemaker- Fransen succeeded in making some spectacular shots, see this link for the results.
And of course also the kids race.

One morning is too short to follow the race and talk to everybody. We met some 'Rotte Rijders', I saw some familiar faces from the 'Oliebollentocht' and some famous velomobiles but it was already time to go home.

Latest news : Kees van M., the former president of the NVHVP, showed me his new race cap. And he mentioned also he soon has to commute to his new office, a commute of 80 kilometers !
Well Kees, I would like to commute with you from Gouda to the east, but I'll stop in Nieuwegein.

The dragon Quest with a new carbon race cap.
